A Glasgow woman was arrested Sunday after a vehicle she was driving collided with a Glasgow police vehicle.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office was requested by the police department to investigate a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Simmons Street and Frazier Avenue, which is in the neighborhood near Gorin Park. The investigation revealed that Brittany Runyon, 35, of Glasgow, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze that did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection, then collided with a Glasgow Police Department 2017 Ford Explorer driven by officer Jeffery Walker, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. Walker was on patrol in the area.
Both Walker and Runyon were transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for minor injuries sustained in the collision.
Runyon was distracted by her cell phone at the time of the collision and was believed to have been “under the influence of intoxicating substances,” according to the press release. She was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, communication device violation, first offense, disregarding a stop sign, failure to produce insurance card, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
Runyon was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center where she remained Sunday afternoon, Jan. 4. She has an initial court appearance set for Monday at 12:30 p.m., according to the jail website.
