Farmers RECC board member retires

After 17 years representing the third district of Farmers RECC, Ronnie Smith has retired.

“All of us who have had the privilege of knowing and working with Ronnie, appreciate the fine person he is and the values he embraces,” said Toby Moss, Farmers RECC president and chief executive officer. “I personally appreciate the interest and dedication he has put forth on our board to represent our members and help assure they receive the best service possible.”

Smith’s service on the Board of Directors included two terms as the Farmers RECC representative on the Kentucky Electric Cooperatives Board of Directors. In addition, he served as the Chairman of the Farmers RECC Board of Directors from 2018-2020 and again in 2022-2023, a Farmers RECC press release stated.

During his tenure, Smith also served as the Secretary/Treasurer and the Vice Chairman of the Farmers RECC Board, according to the release.

Smith also has obtained his Credentialed Cooperative Director Certification and his Board Leadership Certification from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

“The Farmers RECC family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Ronnie and Diana Smith for their loyal and enthusiastic commitment to our cooperative,” the release stated. “Their contributions are a valuable part of our legacy.”

Farmers RECC provides electricity for m0st of Barren County, and is located in Glasgow. District three represents Metcalfe, Green, Adair, and Monroe counties, according to the cooperative’s website.
