Barren County Clerk’s, Sheriff’s Office to be open Dec. 31

Though it will be New Year’s Eve, people will still be able to attend to their vehicle and county tax needs.

Barren County Clerk Helena Chase Birdwell said her office will be opened until 2 p.m. on Dec. 31 and the Barren County Sheriff’s Office will remain open the whole day, allowing people the last chance to pay county property taxes without incurring the six percent penalty.

For December vehicle tag payments, Birdwell said, there is a grace period of Jan. 5.

The clerk’s and sheriff’s offices are located on the bottom floor of the Barren County Government Center on the Glasgow Public Square.
