A Bowling Green woman was arrested by Barren County Sheriff’s deputies after running the car that she was in off the road, according to a uniform citation.

Thirty-two-year-old Asia Austin allegedly had been arguing with her mother “over her level of intoxication while traveling from Cave City to Glasgow” when she climbed across the center console, grabbed the steering wheel, and “jerking the vehicle off the roadway, causing damage to the front bumper and popping both tires on the passenger side,” the citation stated.

Austin was found in a ditch with “slurred speech” and “a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage,” the citation stated.

She is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place (first and second offense) and first-degree wanton endangerment.
