An Edmonton teen charged in the deaths of three other teens has been indicated by a Barren County grand jury. The indictment was filed Wednesday.

Asa R. Howard, 18, of Edmonton, has been indicted on three counts of murder, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of first-degree assault in connection with a two-vehicle collision on Oct. 17. Howard was the driver of a 2016 Nissan Altima in which five other people were passengers when the Altima collided with a 2017 Toyota Highlander at the intersection of Veterans Outer Loop and North Jackson Highway. Three teens in Howard’s car died as a result of the crash.

The Altima was traveling above the speed limit and ran a stoplight then collided with the other vehicle, according to police reports.

During a court appearance on Nov. 10, Howard’s attorney, Ken Garrett, waived a preliminary hearing and requested the case be forwarded to the grand jury.

Howard’s bail was set at $750,000 cash after the indictment was returned. The case will proceed in Barren Circuit Court.

His next court appearance is set for Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. according to the Barren County Detention Center website.
