A male juvenile was arrested by Glasgow police early Wednesday after he fled from an attempted traffic stop.

Police officers responded to a possible intoxicated driver complaint after a vehicle was observed pulling into the parking lot of Extreme Fitness Gym on Moran Street, according to a press release from the Glasgow Police Department.

“Upon arrival, Officers observed the vehicle matching the description of the complaint pulling out of the parking lot onto Moran Street.” the release stated. The vehicle accelerated away from an attempted traffic stop, traveled down several side streets before entering N.L. Rogers Wells Boulevard. There the vehicle drove on the wrong side of the road before officers were able to get the vehicle stopped.

The driver was identified as a male juvenile and it was determined that he was not under the influence, but he did not have a valid operator’s license. The juvenile was taken into custody and cited for first degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), improperly on left side of road, reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, no operators license, and failure to or improper signal. He was released to a guardian after being cited.

Officer Micah Janes was the investigating officer.
