Several Barren County Circuit Court cases had pretrial conferences on Monday, Dec. 8, including those of Damon Dobbs, Felicia Pyanowski, Logan Dixon, Thomas Houchens and Mikal Johnson.
Damon Dobbs and Felicia Pyanowski
The cases involving Dobbs and Pyanowski were discussed together during the Dec. 8 Barren County Circuit Court proceedings with Dobbs’ attorney suggesting that a jury trial should be set in this “complicated case.” Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Resa Gardner disagreed, suggesting that their cases should be addressed together.
Judge John Alexander set the pair’s next pretrial conferences for Jan. 5 at 10 a.m.
Between the two, there are five cases involving child sexual abuse. Dobbs has two and Pyanowski has three. Both were indicted by a Barren County grand jury in May 2025 and in September 2025.
Logan Dixon
Dixon, 19, had his arraignment in circuit court stemming from his alleged armed robbery of the Valero store in August. He pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree robbery, and Judge Alexander set his next pretrial conference for Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. — this also includes his two other cases of theft by unlawful taking and second-degree criminal mischief.
Thomas Wayne Houchens
Houchens, who was arrested and indicted for starting a garage fire on Lyon School Road, had his pretrial conference moved to Monday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m. so Judge Alexander could make a decision regarding his competency.
Mikal Johnson
Twenty-five-year-old Mikal Johnson was taken into custody during his pretrial conference in Barren County Circuit Court after his impromptu You-Turn drug screening came back positive for methamphetamine.
Johnson was called in court before he was sent to You-Turn by Judge Alexander. Upon his return, his case was recalled by Alexander, his bond revoked and he was taken into custody, with Alexander noting “a lot of [parole] violations” in this case. Johnson’s next pretrial conference is Monday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m.
Johnson was arrested after firing a handgun in the air on McKenna Street in September.
