Michael Edward Yoakem, Brownsville

Michael Edward Yoakem, 72, of Cedar Springs passed away 4:20 AM December 7, 2025 at Edmonson Center.

The Edmonson County native was a retired installer for several HVAC companies and a member of Community Church at Cedar Springs.

He was a son of the late Leo Edward Yoakem and Lucille Gilliam Hicks Yoakem. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Yoakem; and five brothers, Tommy Yoakem, Richard Yoakem, Danny Yoakem, Charlie Yoakem and Steve Yoakem.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Joan Yoakem; two sons, Jason Yoakem (Barbara) of Brownsville and Patrick Yoakem (Tracy) of Chalybeate; a daughter, Charity Gillon (Wayne) of Rhoda; three brothers, Ronnie Yoakem (Gena) of Rhoda, Johnny Yoakem (Susan) of Richardsville and Roy Yoakem of Scottsville; two sisters, Judy Woods of Scottsville and Margaret Talon of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Brianna Yoakem (Travis) and Kiara Chute both of Bowling Green, Brittany Vincent (D.J.) of Merry Oaks, Korey Gillon (Kaylee) of Wingfield and Ethan Gillon (Keri) of Sweeden; five great grandchildren, Brynnly Vincent, Gibson Vincent, Jude Stephens, Ja’Mhari Yoakem and Copelyn Clayton; and his dog, Layla.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hawks Cemetery. Visitation will take place 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday and after 9:00 AM Thursday.
