A Glasgow woman who had been banned from a local store was arrested after being caught at the store.

Glasgow police responded to Walmart at the intersection of Happy Valley Road and Veterans Outer Loop on Sunday, Dec. 7, after they received a call that a woman who had been banned from the store was at the store.

Officers made contact with Megan Burchett, 27, of Glasgow, at Walmart and confirmed she had been banned from entering the store, according to a press release from the police department. She also had an active warrant for her arrest.

“After speaking with Burchett, she stated that she was aware that she had been banned from entering Walmart,” the release stated. “A search of her person’s revealed stolen items located inside her sweatshirt that she was wearing.”

Burchett was charged with shoplifting and third-degree burglary. She was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center, and had been released Monday morning.

The arrest was made by Officer Josh Proctor.

Burchett has a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 29, at 8:30 a.m. according to the jail website.
