People can get a little extra help on their energy bills due to a donation from Atmos Energy.
The energy company that has roughly 6,200 customers in Barren County announced that they have donated $2 million to various organizations across their eight-county region to help “neighbors [who need] financial resources to pay for past-due utility bills, home weatherization upgrades, and repair and replacement of customer-owned natural gas appliances and piping,” an Atmos Energy press release stated.
Community Action of Southern Kentucky was one agency in Kentucky that received part of the donation. Community Action has a Barren County location at 411 Happy Valley Road in Glasgow.
Other Kentucky agencies that received donations include: Audubon Area Community Services, Bluegrass Community Action Agency, Help Office of Owensboro, Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency, Pennyrile Allied Community Services, Salvation Army/Kentucky and West Kentucky Allied Services, the press release stated.
This donation comes after the company donated $1.5 million to energy-assistance agencies in September, according to the release.
