Thirty-five-year-old Michael George was arrested in the early morning hours of Nov. 22 by a Barren County Sheriff’s deputy at a residence on Payne Loop Road.
George is charged with first-degree criminal abuse and first-degree strangulation (non domestic violence) after he assaulted a 17-year-old, who was in the care of George at the time, when he accused the juvenile of flirting with George’s fiancé, according to George’s uniform citation.
“The victim stated that he, George, and George’s fiancé had been drinking and after all became intoxicated George accused [the 17-year-old] of flirting with his fiancé,” the citation stated. “At this time is when George began to assault the victim, striking him multiple times in the face causing multiple fractures and also grabbing [him] around the throat.”
Originally thought to be driving to Texas, the deputy arrested George at the Payne Loop Road residence when he returned as a friend of the 17-year-old went to retrieve his belongings, the citation stated.
George has a $10,000 cash bond, according to the Barren County Detention Center.
