For the thirteenth year, students from Glasgow, Barren County and Caverna schools will take the stage as part of the annual Children’s Day Celebration.
The musical performances begins at 6 p.m. on Nov. 20 at the Plaza Theatre in Glasgow. Member of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation Helena Chase Birdwell said attendees will be entertained for approximately an hour-and-a-half by musical performances from local students for $5 a ticket, which can either be bought on the Plaza Theatre’s website or at the door.
The Children’s Day charity was absorbed into the T.J. Community Mission Foundation during a luncheon on Oct. 4, 2024 when Chair Emeritus Bharat Mody and Chair Birdwell along with foundation chair Doug Landers signed a resolution officially making the charity a program of the foundation. T.J. Community Mission Foundation Executive Director Randy Burns said the charity will be used for “pediatric health initative[s],” like the newly renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Birdwell said, though under the umbrella of the foundation, that a portion of the funds raised will still be used to assist the local schools’ family resource and youth service centers.
