Portions of the Glasgow Public Square will be closed to vehicles due to Saturday’s events.
The roadways that go around the Barren County Courthouse will be closed on Nov. 22 beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting until 8 p.m. due to the Light Up Glasgow and Lift Up vendor fair events, the Glasgow Police Department stated in a press release.
Before that, the forty-seventh annual Turkey Trot will be held at various times starting at 7:15 a.m., which will close the east side of the Square — the side with the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building — from 6 a.m. until noon, the release stated.
Light Up Glasgow, which follows the YMCA’s Light Up and Light Up vendor fair, is the official lighting of the Glasgow Square with caroling performed by the Barren County High School Choir and the Glasgow Scottie Singers. The first 100 attendees will receive a free ornament, according to their social media page, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the gazebo form 4-6 p.m.
For the Turkey Trot, registration closes at 3 p.m.F riday, though registration opens at 6:30 a.m. the day of the event on the second floor of city hall. Participants can register for either a half-mile “Gobbler Gait” — though registration is limited to those 7 year olds or younger — the mile run or walk, or the five-mile “Turkey Trot,” the event flyer stated.
