Sinkhole remediation has been put out to bid once again, Housing Authority of Glasgow Executive Operations Officer Sheri Lee told the commissioners of the authority’s board on Nov. 19.

The sinkhole is located at the authority’s E.P. Terry Estates in Cave City. It was first discussed at the housing authority’s board meeting in June 2024 when the commissioners discussed the American Engineers geotechnical proposal. At their March 19 meeting, the commissioners approved an architectural and engineering contract with American Engineers — now STV — for “civil site design for sinkhole remediation plan, bidding assistance [and] topographic survey” for $23,570.

Lee said the authority received no bids to actually remediate the sinkhole and have put out the request for bids again with the opening date set for Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.

“We have received no bids whatsoever, so we have turned around and readvertised…. Hopefully we’ll get a contractor to submit a bid this time,” Lee said. “STV is aware of a contractor out of Nashville that does this kind of work…, so they are going to reach out to them.”

The Glasgow housing authority was also designated a high performer by the Louisville Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for scoring 100 percent on the Section 8 Management Assessment that “enables [the department] to better manage the Section 8 Tenant-based assistance program by identifying [housing authority’s] capabilities and deficiencies,” the letter sent to the authority from the department stated.
