The Glasgow Police Department is reviewing its Use of Force policy after a video posted on social media allegedly showed police officers using force to make an arrest.
The policy review stems from a video that appears to show a bloodied 34-year-old Cody Vibbert being removed from a residence by law enforcement personnel. In a press release sent to media outlets, the Glasgow Police Department stated it is reviewing its use of force policy in this incident and that “this case remains under policy review.”
Vibbert was arrested at Adams Place after Glasgow police responded to a physical domestic complaint, according to another press release from the police department.
“Upon arrival, Officers observed Cody Vibbert standing in the parking lot being disorderly. The suspect became combative with officers by fighting and kicking them, Vibbert was able to grab the Officers Repulse Spray before being detained,” the second press release states.
The press release regarding the review of use of force policy was emailed at 8:51 a.m. Monday. The release related to the arrest of Vibbert was emailed at 10:49 a.m. Monday.
Vibbert was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 15 on charges of:
- second-degree disorderly conduct
- obstructing governmental operations
- public intoxication (excludes alcohol)
- resisting arrest
- disarming a peace officer
- third-degree assault of a police officer
- menacing
- third-degree fleeing or evading police
- second-degree criminal mischief
Glasgow News 1 has requested Vibbert’s uniform citation, but, at the time of publication, has not received it yet. This article will be updated with new information as it becomes available.
