Bond hearings are the next steps for Barry Sexton and Wesley Houchens in their respective circuit court cases.

Nineteen-year-old Sexton was arrested by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office on July 28 after his vehicle crashed on Matthews Mill Road the night before. He left the scene without helping his female passenger, who was flown to Tennessee due to her injuries, his uniform citation stated.

Sexton’s attorney filed a motion in the Barren County Circuit Court requesting that his bond be reduced. He remains lodged in the Barren County Detention Center; he has been in the jail since he was arrested in July, according to a court motion filed on Sexton’s behalf. Sexton’s bond is $10,000 cash.

Houchens attorney also filed a motion to reduce bond for much of the same reasons. He is in the Barren County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.

Houchens was arrested a few days before Sexton — on July 25 — on charges of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence with minor injury), first-degree strangulation (domestic violence involved), fourth-degree assault (minor injury), first-degree strangulation (non-domestic violence related), first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree assault (domestic violence)

Both bond hearings are scheduled for Nov. 24 at 10 a.m.
