A Barren County grand jury will consider 18-year-old Asa Howard’s court case, and potentially indict him.

During his brief Barren County District Court appearance on Nov. 10, his attorney, Ken Garrett, waived the preliminary hearing and requested that the case be forwarded to the grand jury.

“You won’t have another court date in this case until the grand jury decides what to do,” District Judge Gabe Pendleton said during the proceedings.

Howard, from Edmonton, was arrested on Nov. 1 by Metcalfe County Deputy Jarrod Steele on three counts of murder, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of first-degree assault. The charges stem from the fatal collision that occurred in Glasgow on Oct. 17 in which Howard was the driver of a Nissan Altima that hit a Toyota Highlander at the intersection of North Jackson Highway and the Veterans Outer Loop. Three teenagers who were passengers in Howard’s car were killed in the collision.

Howard has a $1 million cash bond, according to the Barren County jail’s website.
