Medicare can be confusing, especially with the changes coming in 2026. The Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library is hosting an event to help navigate the coming changes and enrollment.

Medicare often changes but “2026 brings especially meaningful shifts,” according to the Medicare Guide. Some of the changes include capping Part D out-of-pocket prescription costs at $2,100, tighter rules for Medicare Advantage chronic illness benefits, expanding Colorectal cancer screenings and digital tools for easier Medicare management, the guide stated.

David McCay and Janet Martin, both licensed insurance agents with McCay and Associates Insurance, will be at the library “to coach you through the changes,” a library flyer stated. At the event, a person will learn how to review your Medicare coverage during the Annual Enrollment Period, changes to original Medicare in 2026 and what to watch for, what types of changes may occur in Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug plans, steps to avoid unexpected costs or gaps in coverage and tips for comparing plan features and coverage options, the flyer stated.

“Even small changes to your situation — such as updates to medications, medical providers, premium costs, or plan benefits — can lead to unintended gaps in coverage or higher out-of-pocket costs,” Martin said. “The Annual Enrollment Period is Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, and if any plan changes need to be made, this is the best time to make them because changes may not be allowed at other times of the year. This seminar will help attendees understand what to look for and how to prepare.”

Registration for this event is available on the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library’s website. At the time of publication, there are 10 seats left.

The session is scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m.
