RECAP: Scotties ground Hawks, improve to 8-0

The Glasgow Scotties rolled over LaRue County 42-6 on Friday night to improve to 8-0 on the season. The win also secured the regular season district title for the Scotties and the top seed for the playoffs out of Class 3A, District 2.

Glasgow’s first two scoring drives were set up by Jaylen Bradley interceptions. The Scotties turned his first pick into a two-yard touchdown run by Jaithan Franklin with 8:24 left in the first quarter. Jared Malagon added the extra point kick.

Bradley’s second interception set up a drive that ended with a two-yard touchdown run by Hudson Gumm. Malagon added another PAT.

Cam Bulle scored the Scotties’ next touchdown on a 40-yard run with 2:45 left in the opening quarter. Malagon’s kick set the score at 21-0.

The Scotties added one more touchdown before the end of the first quarter when Hudson Gumm hit Jerrick Martin on a 54-yard pass. Malagon made his fourth extra point.

Glasgow scored twice more in the second quarter to close out its scoring for the game.

The first touchdown was on an eight-yard pass from Gumm to Martin with 5:16 left in the half. Malagon’s made PAT started a running clock on the game.

Gumm finished Glasgow’s scoring with a three-yard run before the break. Malagon made his sixth extra point to put the Scotties up 42-0 at halftime. That scoring drive was set up by a Bulle interception.

The Hawks’ lone touchdown was scored in the final couple minutes of the game. The extra point kick was blocked and that set the final of 42-6.

Gumm completed nine of 11 passes for 175 yards. Martin and Bradley each had 68 yards receiving.

Bulle led the Scotties with 58 yards on the ground, while Jaithan Franklin rushed for 52 yards, and Peyton Lemily finished with 21 rushing yards.

The win was the 701st in program history.

Glasgow hosts Edmonson County this coming Friday at 7 p.m. in its final district contest of the season.
