Jackson, Pace compete in state golf first round

For Tate Pace and Griffin Jackson, their golf seasons ended Tuesday in the first round of the state golf tournament.

Jackson closed out his freshman season at Glasgow by shooting an 8-over par 80. He finished tied for 30th at Calvert City Country Club in the first round of the Kentucky High School Athletics Association Boys’ State Golf Tournament. Pace ended his senior campaign at Glasgow tied for 57th with an 85.

The top three teams in the sectional and the top 15 individuals not on one of the three teams qualified for the state finals next week at Bowling Green Country Club. Jackson and Pace both missed the cut.

Landon Hunt of McCracken County fired 7-under par to win the individual title. Barton Rutledge of Allen County-Scottsville finished second at 3-under 69. McCracken County won the team title at 1-under par 287. Greenwood finished second with a 300, and Marshall County finished third with a 308.
