Glasgow High School’s new Future Farmers of America chapter is hosting a fundraiser for their agriculture program.

It’s called “Bale Trail,” where participants decorate hay bales and then a map will be created with all of the locations of the bales.

“I’ve seen this in previous years and I think this is such a fun and cool opportunity to get the community decorated and some community involvement,” said Mattea Wyatt, the high school’s new agriculture teacher and FFA adviser, in a recent interview with WCLU Radio.

The deadline to register is Sept. 30, with entry completion by Oct. 4. There are three categories: small — one to five square bales; medium — one to two round bales; and the large category that consists of three or more round bales.

Wyatt said they have posted some examples of decorated hay bales on their new Glasgow Agriculture Department page on Facebook, which she encourages community members to check out and follow.

Glasgow senior Diya Nair is in Wyatt’s Principles of Agriculture class, which is the first course in the school’s new agriculture pathway.

“I love the class,” Nair told WCLU Radio. “It’s a very welcoming environment.

“I love the people in the class. It’s very informative.”
