Groove and Glow is scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 13, and will offer a variety of entertaining activities for residents of Glasgow, Barren County, and, perhaps, beyond.

“It’s been several thousand,” said April Russell, talking about past attendances of the Entertain Glasgow event. “It has been [popular] in the past and I assume it will be this time, especially being nice weather.”

The free-admission event will take place at the Glasgow Municipal Airport off of Ky. 90 north of Glasgow. Russell said attendees will turn off Ky. 90 into the airport and park on the runway, at which point golf carts and buses will take people to the nearby events. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Due to this event, the Glasgow Police Department advised caution to those traveling in that area during that time.

The event will feature inflatables, face painting, train rides, a variety of food trucks and live music, including Peter the Freshman and The Spazmatics. Live music will be from 6 to 7 p.m.

Russell said balloon rides wil tentatively start at 6:30. There are 10 balloons this year.

“About 6:30 p.m. is when we hope to start the tethered rides,” Russell said. “The wind has to lay down just enough to start those…. It’s $10 per person per ride and you’ll pay that in line. The guy with Sky Cab said he will watch the lines…, you’re not going to stand in line and not get to ride.”

“The weather looks great; it looks like a nice clear day,” Russell added.

Around 8 p.m. the live music will quiet down and they will do an “organized” glow of the balloons, Russell said.

After the event, Russell said, people will use Martin Road to leave the airport, which connects with Drippings Springs Road.

“We’re excited to be able to provide this,” she said.
