Barren County fell in an early hole at Warren East on Thursday, and never climbed out. The 7-2 loss to the Raiders left the Trojans at 1-1 in the 15th District and 3-4-1 overall. East improved to 2-1 and 3-2.
The Raiders scored three times in the first 16 minutes to lead 3-0. The Trojans struggled to bounce back and trailed 6-0 at halftime.
Gabriel Nyekan scored less than three minutes into the second half to get Barren on the board. Logan Gerber added a goal nine minutes later and the Trojans trailed 6-2. That was as close as they could get. East added an insurance goal late in the game to set the final score.
Barren returns to action Monday at 5 p.m. at Russell County.
