Western Kentucky University has been named one of the Top 10 best nursing schools in Kentucky by Nurse.org, a “data-driven leading educational site for” healthcare workers.
The selection panel, which included four registered nurses, looked at a school’s reputation, tuition, acceptance rate and NCLEX-RN — a standardized test required for graduates to become licensed nurses — pass rate. The website also notes the increasing requirements for nurses, exemplified by the increasing prevalence of hospitals requiring “at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing” degree.
WKU has an online Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, which university president Timothy Caboni announced at a recent Barren Inc. Coffee and Commerce is in place for this academic year.
“WKU has relaunched the RN to BSN program this fall 2025 semester, which is especially noteworthy for practicing nurses in Barren County,” director of regional campuses Derick Strode wrote in an email. “The program is online and can be completed in a year, but we will also have some of the most popular nursing electives in-person at our WKU in Glasgow campus. We are admitting nursing students each fall, spring, and summer now.”
