Several of the top three finishers in the 2025 Best in Kentucky are staples in the Glasgow and Barren County communities.

The top three were included in the most recent issue of “the state’s most widely read print publication,” Kentucky Living, after a process of open nominations in February and voting in May.

Mammoth Cave National Park snagged first place in several categories, including in the best road trip destination and in places for adventure. The park also placed second in historic attraction and third in the hiking trails category.

The Grove in Glasgow placed third in the live music venue category, Glasgow’s Kellie McKay finished in second place for best local radio host and Ace Coffee in Cave City received third place in the coffee shop category.

Kentucky Living editor Shannon Brock said the competition serves as the “ultimate tourism guide for Kentucky visitors.” Previously, MacLean Lessenberry, executive director of Glasgow-Barren County Tourism, said the attention the top three finishers get is “always great” and “bring[s] a lot of in-state traffic” to the finishers locations.

“The Best in Kentucky awards celebrate the people, places and experiences that make our state such a vibrant place to live,” said Chris Perry, president and chief executive officer of Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, the publisher of Kentucky Living. “Co-ops are dedicated to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve, and Best in Kentucky is yet another demonstration of that commitment.”
