The Barren River Drug Task Force received a check from the Lowe’s Back the Blue program on Wednesday, Aug. 27. The presentation featured a multitude of Lowe’s employees and local law enforcement officials who gathered in the second floor board room of the Barren County Development Center.

Task force detective Aaron Cowan said he submitted an application to the Lowe’s grant program earlier in the year.

“They give out funds to local law enforcement agencies for projects and equipment that they can use to better serve their communities,” Cowan said.

“We have already been utilizing a mobile application… that will assist us in our investigations, and that’s what we requested” the money for in the grant application, he explained.

Task force director Ron Lafferty said in the check presentation speech that Cowan’s efforts were key to getting the grant money from Lowe’s.

The grant is for $2,736 to the drug task force.
