Stephen ‘Steve’ Guy Strickland , Glasgow

Stephen “Steve” Guy Strickland age 76 of Glasgow, Kentucky died Wednesday, August 20 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a dedicated Soldier, Daddy, Pawpaw, Brother and “Uncle Steve” to all.

He was born May 12, 1949 in Mason, Michigan, the son of the late Don and Agnes ( Jamieson) Strickland. Steve graduated from Mason High School in 1967. He was attending Alma College on a football scholarship when he was called to serve his country in Vietnam. He served with honor and distinction for 20+ years in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in Vietnam, Germany, and Korea. He was a member of the 101st airborne division out of Fort Campbell Kentucky. He earned numerous accolades for his leadership and dedication his military decorations include the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm along with many others. He was a recruiter and NCO Instructor.

After retiring from the Army, Steve dedicated his time spoiling his three granddaughters Pailynn, Makaylee and Madie Grace by taking them to the park, getting donuts before school or Hawaiian shaved ice after school. He was “Uncle Steve” to all who knew him. He had a love not only for his family, old ford trucks and country but his GOD- given right to bear arms. Everybody knew to say “It’s us Uncle Steve don’t shoot” when they walked in to visit. He was known for his strength, wise  counsel and deep love for his family. He will forever be our Solider, Warrior, and above all, our Hero.

Steve is survived by his dedicated daughter Mary Lee Strickland Dial of Glasgow, Ky; Sons Timothy (Stephanie) Strickland, Daniel Strickland of Mason, Michigan; brother, Scott (Rene) Strickland of Belleville Michigan; a sister, Denise (Richard) Strickland Johnson of Mason, Michigan; grandchildren, Pailynn, Makaylee and Madie Grace Dial  of Glasgow, Ky, Taylor Brown, Samantha VanHavel ,Mackenzie Strickland, Chance Strickland and Lincoln Strickland all of Mason, Michigan and a special grandson, John Carter Matheson of Taylorsville, North Carolina who shares his love of the military and several nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service with be held a 1PM Monday, August 25, 2025  at Hatcher and Sadler Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 10:00 am Monday until time for services at the funeral home.
