Barren County collected its first girls’ soccer win of the season Monday in a critical contest. The Trojanettes downed Warren East, 3-1, in a 15th District contest behind a pair of goals and an assist from Haley Mutter.
The Trojanettes entered the game 0-2 after opening the season with non-district losses to Franklin-Simpson and Elizabethtown, but the Monday win gets them on the right foot in the district race.
Mutter opened the scoring with 13:50 left in the first half. Barren led 1-0 at intermission.
She added her second goal less than five minutes into the second half. Four minutes later the Lady Raiders scored their lone goal.
Shelby Byrd closed the scoring in the game with a goal off a cross by Mutter with 22:52 left in the contest.
The Trojanettes improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the district.
Barren returns to action Thursday at home against LaRue County at 5:30 p.m.
