With the ever-increasing prevalence of scams, Team Kentucky has launched a new website to combat this issue through awareness, reporting and education.

Seventy-three percent of United States adults have experienced some kind of online scam, according to a 2025 Pew Research study, with most receiving a scam call, email or text message at least weekly. In 2025, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, the Glasgow Police Department and the state’s transportation cabinet have all warned of scams that sought to get money from the scam targets.

“Scams are mean and cruel, and they cost Kentuckians of all ages their hard-earned savings that should be going toward rent, groceries, retirement and more,” Governor Andy Beshear said. “While we’ve made progress in stopping scammers, a 2024 FBI report showed Kentuckians are losing more than $74 million each year to online scammers – something we won’t tolerate. Through this new website, educational events and more, we’re going to help protect Kentuckians by equipping them with the tools they need to stay safe.”

The new website, StopScams.ky.gov, will serve as a one-stop resource on how to spot scams, ways to report and resources for recovering what was lost and offers you the option to sign up for scam alerts through email or text message, offering direct updates on the latest emerging scams.

StopScams.ky.gov was created in partnership among state agencies and private resources to be a trusted source of information on active scams in Kentucky and how to avoid them.
