Glasgow native Bryant Vincent has been named the interim athletic director at the University of Louisiana Monroe, according to a press release from the university. Vincent takes over for John Hartwell, who recently resigned as the university’s athletic director. Vincent’s appointment is effective immediately, pending approval of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. He will continue to serve as the football program’s head coach.
“I am grateful to Bryant for stepping up to serve as interim AD. Not only is Bryant a leader, but he builds teams and communities,” said ULM President Dr. Carrie L. Castille. “Bryant has the support of the Associate ADs and will be working closely with them to ensure he can serve both roles and win games. He has already gained the support of this community as a head coach, and I hope that everyone will join me in rallying around him to support ULM Athletics. I have no doubt in Bryant’s ability to serve in both roles with excellence and a winning spirit.”
Vincent was named the head coach of the Warhawk football team in December 2023, according to the press release. The Warhawks posted a 5-7 record in Vincent’s first year at the helm. The team began the year 5-1, which was ULM football’s best start to a season since 1987.
Vincent will begin his second season as head coach Aug. 28, 2025, when the Warhawks host St. Francis University at Malone Stadium.
ULM will launch a national search for its next Athletic Director, according to the press release.
Prior to taking the Louisiana Monroe football job, Vincent served as offensive coordinator at New Mexico, and as the interim head coach at University of Alabama Birmingham following the retirement of Bill Clark and led the Blazers to a 7-6 season and a win in the 2022 Bahamas Bowl. He also served as the offensive coordinator at South Alabama.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Vincent was a successful high school football coach in Alabama and tallied a record of 49-16 in five seasons at two different schools. In his first season as a head coach, Vincent led Greenville High School to a 10-3 record and was selected as the Class 5A Coach of the Year in 2006. Vincent was at the helm of Spanish Fort High School football for four seasons and produced a record of 39-13. His team captured the Alabama 5A State Championship in 2010.
