Caverna board to set tax rate at special meeting

The Caverna Board of Education will meet in a special-called session on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 5 p.m. at the district’s central office. Several key items are slated for discussion and action, including the approval of the 2025-26 tax rate and final approval of student handbooks for all grade levels.

Superintendent Amanda Abell is expected to recognize both students and staff during her report. The board will also review updates to personnel documents, finance reports, grants and travel.

Among the agenda items, board members will consider approval of the district’s Student Code of Conduct on acceptable behavior and discipline, an item that was tabled at the last meeting. Schematic designs and related bonding are also return for discussion after being tabled previously.

Other business includes approving a $2,500 stipend for a public relations coordinator, setting a chairperson and alternate for the Certified Evaluation Appeal Panel, and approving updated job descriptions for district positions, including the Director of Human Resources and the administrative assistant to the superintendent.
