Applications are now open for the Tennessee Valley Authority’s STEM Education Awards, which will dole out up to $5,000 to educators across its seven-state region for science, technology, engineering and math projects.
In 2024, out of 647 grant applications selected, 342 were selected to receive funding including Glasgow Middle School, Red Cross Elementary School and South Green Elementary School.
Educators can apply for up to $5,000 out of a total $1.5 million. Eligible applicants are teachers or school administrators in public or private schools, grades K-12 and preference will be given to applications that explore the authority’s primary area of focus: environment, energy, economic and career development, and community problem-solving, a press release stated.
“We know that today’s students will shape the future of the…region,” said Don Moul, TVA President and Chief Executive Officer. “Now, more than ever, we want to support and encourage STEM education – a career in STEM will provide good opportunities for students and ensure our region’s workforce is prepared to provide energy security for the next generation.”
