In six months more than 1,000 people have been removed from the Barren County voter rolls and membership in both major political parties have decreased, according to the state Board of Elections.

As of June 2025, there were 31,543 people registered to vote in Barren County, which is 1,154 people less than the 32,697 registered in Jan. 2025. In addition to this overall decrease Democratic, Republican and Independent registrations have seen downticks with Democrats losing 624 members, Republican registration losing 424 people and Independents losing only 50 people.

Those voters registered under “other” lost 58 members as well.

Republicans make up most of Barren County’s registration — comprising 52.26 percent of those voters registered, which is higher than the state average of 47 percent.

A person can be removed from the rolls if they: voluntarily unregister, are convicted of a felony, move out-of-state and register in another, are not a citizen or are adjudged mentally incompetent.
