A Georgia man led police officers on a chase through Glasgow — both in a vehicle and on foot.
On Monday, June 30, Glasgow police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on 43-year-old George Middlebrooks of Forsyth, Georgia. Instead of stopping, a Glasgow Police Department press release states, Middlebrooks “fled at a high rate of speed” on N. L. Rogers Wells Boulevard.
“[He traveled] down several roads before turning onto Hudson Lane, where he then stopped and fled on foot,” the press release states. “Officers were able to detain him on Lexington Drive without further incident.”
Middlebrooks was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a large amount of currency.
Barren River Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant for the residence on Lexington Drive where Middlebrooks and his girlfriend resided and found “crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, and prescription medication that was packaged in a manner consistent with trafficking of those controlled substances along with a large amount of currency.” The task force also stated a firearm was found outside the residence.
Middlebrooks was arrested and charged with operating on a revoked or suspended license, first- and second-degree fleeing on foot, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense). first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, disregarding stop signs, first-degree wanton endangerment. In addition to these charges, he also has a warrant from another state, according to the Barren County Detention Center website.
His court date is scheduled for July 3 at 12:30 p.m.
The arrest was made by Officer Jordan Saltsman.
The task force stated the investigation is ongoing and additional charges “are expected.”
