The Cave City Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy.
This class will be held at the Cave Area Conference Center on Tuesday nights from 6-8 p.m., beginning Sept. 2 and ending on Nov. 4.
The Citizens Police Academy applications are open to any citizen above 18 years of age, who work or reside in Cave City or surrounding counties and has no prior felony convictions in the last 5 years.
“The purpose of the Citizens Police Academy is to educate the public about the services offered by the Cave City Police Department,” Cave City Police Chief Paul Reynolds said. “The goal is to build partnerships within the community and develop community support for the department while also providing citizens with a better understanding of our officers and what they experience daily.”
“We strongly feel the best way to build a better relationship between officers, and the community is through education,” the press release added.
Some of the topics covered include learning about use of force, crime scene processing, K9, mock traffic stops, and a ride along with a patrol officer.
