Former Caverna High School boys’ basketball coach Terrence Miles picked up additional charges after being indicted by a Hart County grand jury. Miles, 37, was indicted by the grand jury earlier in June.
He was initially charged with first-degree criminal abuse, second-degree wanton endangerment, and first-degree official misconduct, but, according to his indictment, the former coach is now charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault (child abuse), second-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree official misconduct and failure to report child dependency/neglect/abuse (first offense).
The Hart County court documents also show Miles has entered into a not guilty plea.
His next pretrial conference is scheduled for Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. in the Hart County Circuit Court with Judge Joe Ballard.
Miles resigned from his positions with the school district on May 2 due to a video circulating on social media that, according to Miles’ resignation letter, was “intended solely and totally as horseplay.” A short time after, he was arrested by Horse Cave police and was released from jail on May 5 after meeting his $50,000-at-10-percent bond.
