The Glasgow Independent school board will have a special-called meeting tonight at 6:30 in its central office board room, which is in the library of the old South Green Elementary, to approve the 2025-26 employee and student handbooks, and approve traceable communication systems in compliance with Senate Bill 181.

At the board’s last meeting, Superintendent Chad Muhlenkamp said these communication restrictions extend beyond just teachers.

“That is for certified, classified, volunteers,” Muhlenkamp said. “Anyone that is tied to the school district.”

During discussion of this new law, board members agreed that these restrictions will have a lot of unintended consequences for coaches, club sponsors and district employees who also work additional jobs that involve student workers.

Agenda for tonight’s meeting:

I. Call to Order
I.1. Roll Call
I.2. Adopt Agenda
II. Second Reading and Approval of 25/26 Policy Changes.
III. Approve 25/26 Employee Handbook
IV. Approve 25/26 Student Handbook Changes.
V. Approve to designate as the District’s traceable communication system the following electronic school notification and communication programs or applications in compliance with SB 181 (KRS 160.145)
VI. Approve Pay Dates for Coaches.
VII. Adjourn
