A new gas station eyed for the Veterans Outer Loop is one step closer to reality.
Members of the Joint City-County Planning Commission met for their monthly meeting and approved the preliminary development plan submitted by Newcomb Oil for the property at 2455 New Bowling Green Road, which is at the intersection of U.S. 68/Ky. 80 and the Veterans Outer Loop, diagonally across from Wright Implements.
The plan is to construct a FiveStar Convenience store at that location.
The city development plan ordinance states that “A preliminary development plan is a site plan by which, at the early stages of development design, the Joint City-County Planning Commission may consider, approve and restrict many major aspects of the development without requiring an undue amount of final design work on the part of the developer.”
“The preliminary development plan is less detailed and specific than a final development plan in terms of exact arrangement of buildings, parking areas, open spaces access points and any other site design features,” the ordinance states “No building permits can be issued based upon a preliminary development plan.”
Newcomb Oil’s next step is to seek approval on its final development plan “a site plan from which a building permit will be sought.”
Earlier this year, the company requested that 4.43-acre property be rezoned from a light industrial district to a highway service district, which was approved.
