The Glasgow attempted murder case will get a preliminary hearing before, possibly, being forwarded to a Barren County grand jury.
Abbie Sovine, 39, was arrested by Glasgow police on June 11 after they received a report of a stabbing and went to a residence off Frazier Avenue where they found a man “standing in the roadway suffering from a stab wound to his left arm area,” a Glasgow police press release stated at the time.
“Officers determined that a domestic situation had taken place, and the suspect identified as Abbie R. Sovine had stabbed the victim in the left arm with a knife,” the June 11 press release stated.
The man was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital and later to Skyline Hospital in Nashville.
Sovine appeared in district court on June 12 at 12:30 p.m. via Zoom where she requested a preliminary hearing from District Judge Gabe Pendleton, who set her next hearing on June 23 at 1 p.m. Pendleton also said he would take her bond — which is $250,000 — under advisement.
The prosecution asked that her bond remain at the amount until the man who was stabbed could be consulted. The attorney cited Marsy’s Law — which amended the Kentucky constitution by a vote of Kentuckians in 2020 — that gives “crime victims” the right to “be heard in any proceeding involving release, plea, sentencing, or consideration of pardon, commutation, granting of reprieve, or other matter involving the right of a victim, have reasonable protection from the accused, timely notice of release or escape of the accused and have their safety and their family’s safety considered in setting bail, the defendant’s release and conditions of release.”
