Park City Elementary School will soon have a new top administrator.
The parent and teachers on the school’s site-based decision-making council, along with district superintendent Amy Irwin, gathered at the Barren County Schools central office on Trojan Way to discuss potential principal replacements. The current principal, Beth Davidson, is becoming an assistant principal at Barren County Middle School.
The job for a Park City Elementary School principal was posted on the district’s website on May 23, according to District Site-Based Trainer Dinah Wallace, who at the meeting also gave the council members the required principal-selection training for consolidated school districts. Wallace said there were seven applicants right now, though the position is still posted, so that is subject to change.
The council members agreed that they would like to see the position filled by next Friday, June 20, which Wallace said was doable, with June 18 and 19 set as tentative days for interviews and discussion.
After receiving their nearly two-hour selection training, the council went into closed session to discuss and set criteria, interview questions and review applicants’ resumes. Given the truncated timeline, they also agreed to forego the stakeholder survey and instead use the recent Studer Education and other school surveys.
