RECAP: Billingsley, Wilson lead Barren at Class 3A state meet

Barren County’s throwers led the way for the track and field program at the Class 3A State Track Meet in Lexington.

Greyson BIllingsley shattered his previous personal best in the boys’ discus with a toss of 154-feet, 7-inches. He chucked the discus 149-feet, 7-inches to win the event at the Region 2 meet. The throw at state was good enough to finish fifth. Trinity’s Rocco Pfeiffer won the gold with a distance of 163-feet, 4-inches.

Riley Wilson finished seventh in the girls’ discus with a toss of 110-feet, 9-inches. She was also 12th in the shot put with a distance of 31-feet, 8-inches. Aleigha Sullivan of Lafayette won the discus with a distance of 129-feet, 11-inches, while Ella Goetz won the girls’ shot put with a toss of 39-feet, 9-inches.

Daylan Thomas finished 10th in the boys’ shot put with a distance of 46-feet, 8-inches. Deegan Croley won the boys’ shot put with a toss of 57-feet, 6.25-inches.

All three just finished their junior seasons.

In the girls’ high jump, senior Addy Roemer finished tied for 12th with a height of 4-feet, 10-inches. Freshman Samantha Roemer also cleared 4-feet, 10-inches on more tries and finished 14th.

In the mixed 2×50 relay unified, Evan Kuhnke and Dylan Thomas combined to finish fifth with a time of 13.74 seconds.
