The Barren River District Health Department recently unveiled its new mobile clinic unit.
The goal of the mobile unit is to reach community members in their own neighborhoods and community events, enhancing ease of access to core clinic services.
“We hope to reach our medically underserved communities and provide services for those who would not have access to our main clinics,” Clinic Director Chelsey Lindsey said. “Our goal is to meet people where they are.”
The unit will provide numerous services including immunization and harm reduction services to all eight health department counties, which consists of Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson and Warren, according to the press release.
Community members are encouraged to take advantage of the Mobile Clinic services.
The unit will have a schedule of locations it will park, such as neighborhoods and community organizations, planned by the unit clinical staff.
