Corinia Jean Gearlds,

Corinia Jean Gearlds, 87, of Glasgow, KY and formerly of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28th, at TJ Samson Community Hospital.

Corinia was born in Tompkinsville, KY on April 7, 1938, a daughter of the late Martha (Abney) and Bedford  Pruitt.

On May 26, 1956, she married Eurie Edward Gearlds in Louisville, KY. Edward preceded her in death on October 12, 2018.

Corinia dedicated her life to her family, raising her children with love, strength, and unwavering care. She worked for a short time in a garment factory and later poured her heart into being a homemaker, where her true passion shined. She had a deep love for life’s simple joys — cooking for those she loved, helping on the farm, tending to her flowers, completing puzzles, and fishing.

Corinia is survived by her five sons, Phillip Gearlds, of Glasgow, KY;  Ricky Gearlds, and wife, Rhonda, of Alvaton, KY;  Duane  Gearlds, and wife, Pam of Tompkinsville, KY;  Gene Gearlds, and wife, Victoria of Gamaliel, KY; Gary Gearlds, and wife, Tammy of Smiths Grove, KY; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Corinia is also survived by a brother, Bedford Pruitt, Jr. Tipton, IN; sister, Jean Morgan, of Indianapolis, IN; sisters-in-law, Phillis Pruitt, Christina Pruitt and Brenda Pruitt.

Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gearlds; daughters-in-law, Pam Turner Gearlds and Sheena Gearlds; brothers, James, Russell, George, Jessie and Jimmy Pruitt; sister, Iva Watson, Lucille Rayburn, Roxie Tooley & Flo Mitchell and brother-in-law, Miron Watson

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31st at Indian Creek Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, May 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Indian Creek Baptist Church, and will begin Saturday morning after 7:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Corinia’s memory may be made to Indian Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
