Barren needed to win by at least four runs at Allen County-Scottsville on Wednesday. The Trojanettes won by 5, 6-1.
The victory secured the top seed in the 15th District Softball Tournament that begins Monday at Glasgow High School. The Trojanettes will play the host Lady Scotties at 5:30. The Lady Patriots take on Warren East at 7.
Barren took the lead for good in the top of the first inning. Katie Elmore led off and reached on an error. After a strike out, Norah Shirley reached base with a single. Briley Aidala followed and drove in Katie Elmore with a double.
The Trojanettes added another run in the top of the third with two outs. Shirley doubled, then scored on a single by Aidala.
Barren set itself up with the runs needed to claim the top seed in the top of the fourth.
Shea Bogue led off with a single. Kyra Moore entered to run for the pitcher and moved to second on a single by Abby Elmore. Josey Moore moved the runners up a base with a sacrifice bunt.
Lily Elmore followed with a sacrifice bunt attempt, but reached first when a throw was not made. That loaded the bases.
Moore scored during Katie Elmore’s at-bat on a wild pitch. Katie Elmore eventually drew a walk to reload the bases.
Myatt drove in Abby Elmore with a single, before Shirley drove in Lily Elmore with a sacrifice fly. Aidala drove in Katie Elmore with a single for the final run of the inning, and Barren led 6-0.
Bogue allowed not hits until the bottom of the fifth inning. She finished the game with four hits allowed and she struck out four.
Aidala led Barren at the plate with fourth hits and three RBIs. Shirley posted two hits, while Myatt, Bogue, Josey Moore and Abby Elmore each had a hit.
