Terrence Miles had his case postponed by a month due to unforeseen witness complications.

After a video was shared that led him to resign from both his boys’ basketball coach position and his special education position with Caverna Independent Schools, he was arrested by Horse Cave police on two counts of first-degree criminal abuse, one count of second-degree wanton endangerment and one count of first-degree official misconduct.

Criminal abuse is a class C felony and both wanton endangerment and official misconduct are class A misdemeanors.

At his initial district court appearance, Miles entered into a not-guilty plea. During his May 12 court appearance, his attorney, David Cross, told Judge Teresa McHahan-Miller that the Caverna High School school resource officer he had subpoenaed was recovering from an injury and was not yet able to give testimony.

“I usually don’t put proof on in [preliminary hearings] but in this case I think it’s important to do so,” Cross said. “We subpoenaed the Caverna SRO [and] he’s in a Bowling Green hospital, so I’m going to have to move to continue this…. I’m not trying to put this off I just think it’ll be helpful to get his testimony.”

District Superintendent Amanda Abell said the school resource officer for the high school is Rafael Casas with the Cave City Police Department.

With no objections, Miles’ next court date is scheduled for June 23 at 8:30 a.m.

He was released on May 5 from the Hart County Jail. His bond is set at 10 percent of $50,000 in addition to other conditions, which are to not violate other laws, to not consume alcohol or drugs, to have no contact with alleged victims or witnesses and to make all scheduled court appearances.
