Once again there is another licensing opportunity for residents of Barren County.
Members with Kentucky licensing regional offices will be at the Lera B. Mitchell Clubhouse on June 4 for another popup event. At this event people have the ability to renew their license, apply for a REAL ID — the enforcement date of which was on May 7 — or do anything else that is available at a regional office.
Appointment availability opens on May 21 and will need to be made online. While appointments are preferred, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet states popup staff may take a limited number of walk-ins.
“Popup staff will email or phone all appointment holders before each event,” the popup website states. “Staff will confirm appointments, answer any questions, and ensure each customer has the proper documents to receive service at a Popup event. ”
Barren County Circuit Clerk Julie Jolly said her deputies would assist anyone without a computer that wished to schedule an appointment.
On Jan. 1, 2025 vision screening requirements went into effect that people must pass when renewing or applying for a license. Administrative Specialist Toni Benedict wrote in an email that applicants are offered “one free vision screening per day as part of their appointment.” Deputy Executive Director Allen Blair said people can bring certification from their vision specialist if they didn’t need, or want, to take one on-site.
The popup will take place between 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Popup events are only for residents of the county.
There are permanent regional offices in Bowling Green and Columbia.
