RECAP: Trojans rally to beat Scotties, 3-2

Barren County wrapped an undefeated district schedule with a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Glasgow on Wednesday.

The Trojans scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning without getting a hit to overcome a 2-0 deficit.

JP Hyde led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. Jackson Reece and Sutton Hyde each drew walks to load the bases. Gavin Coffey hit a ball to center field that was misplayed, and that allowed JP Hyde to scored the Trojans’ first run.

Axel Dysholm grounded to short stop Hudson Gumm who threw to second to get Coffey out there. Reece scored on the play. That tied the game at 2-2. Aiden Keeney followed and grounded out to second baseman Garett Shields. Sutton Hyde scored to give Barren the 3-2. Lead.

Glasgow took a 1-o lead in the top of the second. Houston Haynes led off with a single. He stole second during Camden “Bam” Nolley’s at-bat, and scored on a single by Nolley.

The Scotties pushed their lead to 2-0 in the top of the third. Carter Hodges led off with a double and scored on a double by Gumm.

Cameron Crawford started on the mound for the Trojans. He pitched 3.2 innings, allowed seven hits and struck out three. Jacob Spence and Sutton Hyde each also saw time on the mound. Hyde struck out three batters.

Hodges started for Glasgow. He allowed two hits and struck out two, but also walked five. Evan Templin closed and allowed no hits and struck out two.

Coffey and Sutton Hyde each had a hit for Barren, but as a team the Trojans drew six walks.

Haynes led Glasgow with three hits, while Gumm added two, and Hodges, Templin and Nolley each posted a hit.

The 15th District Baseball Tournament, which begins May 19 at Richardson Stadium, is set. Barren County will be the No. 1 seed and will play Allen County-Scottsville. Glasgow will be the three seed and will face Warren East.
