Glasgow struck first, but Barren County struck most in a district showdown Tuesday at Richardson Stadium.
Josiah Driver led off the bottom of the first inning with a single. Hudson Gumm followed with a single that pushed Driver to third. Driver eventually stole home when Gumm attempted to steal second, and eventually did.
That was it for the Scotties as the Trojans scored the next six runs in the game to win 6-1. Barren improved to 5-0 in 15th District action, while Glasgow fell to 1-4.
The Trojans took the lead for good in the top of the fourth. JP Hyde led off with a single. He stole second during Jackson Reece’s at-bat, and took third during Sutton Hyde’s at-bat. Sutton Hyde was hit by a pitch, which put runners at the corners.
Gavin Coffey drove in both Hydes with a double. Coffey stole third before he was driven home by a sacrifice fly by Axel Dysholm.
The Trojans added two more runs in the top of the fifth on a two-run homer by JP Hyde.
Barren added its final run in the top of the seventh. Coffey drove in Reece with a single.
Skylar Potter went the distance on the mound for the Trojans. He allowed three hits, struck out five and walked none.
Peyton Lemily started for the Scotties. He pitched four innings, allowed two hits and struck out four. Cooper Hatton and Rashad Etheridge each also saw time on the mound.
JP Hyde led Barren at the plate with two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Coffey posted two hits and drove in three runs, while Reece also had two hits. Aiden Keeney and Price Thompson each had a hit in the game.
For Glasgow, Driver, Gumm and Carter Hodges each had a hit.
The teams play again today at 5:30 at Barren County.
