A Glasgow man will be arraigned Monday, May 5, at 9 a.m. with special judge Mark A. Thurmond in Simpson County.

Hunter Vann of Glasgow was initially scheduled to be arraigned in person in Barren County on May 5, but the arraignment will now be via Zoom before the special judge.

He is charged with third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense) for allegedly intending “to distribute, dispense, or sell a quantity of more than 120 dosage units of Alprazolam” and criminal attempt to tamper with physical evidence. He waived his right to be indicted by a Barren County grand jury, according to documents that were entered into the court record on April 10.

Thurmond was assigned as special judge after Barren County Circuit Court Judge John Alexander recused himself. In his recusal, Alexander cited his “… lifelong, family connection with the Defendant and his family.” The recusal was entered into the court record on April 16.

Lexington attorney Kyle Bunnell will serve as Vann’s attorney, according to court documents. Bunnell is a Barren County native.
