Barren County pulled away late to beat Campbellsville, 7-0, at home Thursday.
Sutton Hyde gave the Trojans the lead for good with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. Barren iced the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth after building a 3-0 lead.
On the mound, Skylar Potter registered the win with six innings of action. He allowed seven hits and struck out five. Sutton Hyde closed the top of the seventh, allowed two hits and struck out two.
Seven different Trojans posted hits in the game. JP Hyde, Jackson Reece, Axel Dysholm, Gavin Coffey, Aiden Keeney, Joey Meyers and Sutton Hyde.
The capstone sixth began when Jax Vincent reached base on an error with one out. JP Hyde followed with a single that moved Vincent to third. Reece followed with a single that drove in both Vincent and JP Hyde.
Reece moved to second on a passed ball during Sutton Hyde’s at-bat. He eventually drew a walk to reach base. Dysholm followed with a double that drove in both base runners, and gave Barren the 7-0 lead.
